Deraltu

This is Deraltu looking very pregnant. It’s exciting to think that soon there’ll be one or two baby hyenas added to the clan, although it will be a few months before they’re introduced to the hyena-feeding. So I’m waiting for the night that Deraltu shows up carrying a few less kilos and then I’ll count the days until she brings her babies along.
It will also be nigh on impossible for me to tell the sex of the babies because they don’t display any observable differences until they’re much older. If you’ve done your research you’ll know about the pseudo-penis and how convincing it is. So convincing in fact that Jane Goodall, after giving certain hyenas boys’ names, found she had to change the names after the ‘boys’ had babies.
